Paul’s London Marathon 2016 Blog – Week One

It’s been a couple of weeks since I received the good news that I have a club place for next year’s London Marathon so I want to keep everyone up dated of my progress. Mike Wakefield – the crazy fool – has kindly agreed to be my mentor. On Saturday November 14th I ran 11 miles with some of the usual suspects I run with on a Saturday; Claire D, Kim and Russ. Then on November 16th I ran 14 miles with the inspirational Ben Smith on his 401 marathon Challenge. This week due to me being on standby at work – one week in every six – I have to fit training in when I can. Unfortunately I missed my Saturday run but managed to do “Doing it for Dan” at club on Tuesday. I then completed the AVR ½ marathon in very challenging conditions; wind, rain and hills with a great group of Allstars. Cross-training was a circuit/ boxercise class working the upper body only and resting the legs. Now with all the events out of the way I am focused on training through the winter
